I’ll be honest: I don’t love a hot toddy. I’ve had some okay ones, but none that made me want to recreate them at home.
However, I do like the makeup of a toddy—whiskey with citrus and a comforting tea. There is something to that combination. So I thought to myself: Why does it need to be hot? I threw a classic toddy on ice, added some of my favorite cinnamon bark syrup, topped with some fizzy ginger beer and this version of a cold toddy was born.
You can totally curl up with this one next to a fire, toss one back apres-ski, or heck, whip it up on a July evening.

makes 2 cocktails
-
- 3 oz ginger tea-infused bourbon (.5 cup bourbon steeped with 1 ginger tea bag for 2 hours – feel free to skip this!)
- 3 oz black tea (I used Smith Tea Maker)
- 1 oz cinnamon bark syrup
- 2 oz lemon juice
- ginger beer
Assembly
Add all ingredients except ginger beer to a shaker filled with ice. Shake until very cold, then strain into a highball filled with fresh ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a cinnamon stick!
